iPod Touch
We were up in Southampton this morning, an unexpected visit but we did manage to complete 85% of our Christmas present shopping in the space of around ten minutes (children getting older+gift card=problem solved). After kicking back in the excellent new Pret A Manger and enjoying a double hit latte, we wandered into the Apple Store to take a look at the new iPods.
The Apple design philosophy obviously works well on my nearest and dearest, because Sally was rather entranced by the new iPod Nano with its video capabilities (despite me buying her a 30Gb version of what is now the “classic” last Christmas). “I like the blue one”. There you go Mr Jobs, another happy customer.
I was rather more taken with the new iPod Touch, the things is almost ridiculously thin and light. Controls are very responsive, and the video playback in proper widescreen looks superb (Knights of Cydonia by Muse in case anyone was wondering). When the touch has a capacity to equal, or preferably exceed my current model I will take a look. For now, I’m playing the waiting game with Apple and its products.
The iPhone will be available here in November exclusively on the O2 network (so that’s me out, I’m not changing networks) and I’m very much waiting for the second generation of handsets before even considering the hippest of hipster phones. Likewise with the Macbook Pro, with OS X Leopard supposedly coming out in October there are rumoured to be some new models and I’m waiting for those before making another Apple hardware purchase.

I think I’m the only person who still doesn’t have an iPod. I wonder what that makes me…
Apple can’t really do much wrong.
I’m so glad I stuck with O2 finally the poor customer service has paid off!
