Freesat HD & Kef

| May 8, 2008 | 0 Comments

A small update following on from my post yesterday, I take my hat off to Kef who e-mailed me within an hour of contacting them yesterday regarding my buzzing subwoofer.  Movement Audio who supplied the speakers are able to repair it for £80, which still made me wince but the price of a new sub would be considerably higher.

But I would put my hat back on again and possibly even thumb my nose at Kef after picking up the sub from my local repair shop who said that really and truly Kef should be providing a subsidised repair for the unit because it’s a design fault on that particular model that causes this problem and it is a well known fault.  I may well put some pressure on Kef and see how they respond, you certainly don’t expect high end kit like theirs to develop a fault after only three years of fairly light use.

The Freesat web site has also been updated and I’ve had a look around the AV Forums and you can indeed buy an HD receiver courtesy of Humax and some lucky folks there are already enjoying it.  I’m still waiting for the DVR enabled receiver which is still showing as “Coming Soon” on the site.  Hopefully I will get a reply back from Freesat fairly soon with some more information regarding a launch date.  At least it looks like I won’t have to pay any installation fees as Freesat uses the same satellites as Sky Digital (Astra 2 and Eurobird 1)
