Snow Day! Part 2

| February 3, 2009 | 4 Comments

I found it unbelievable whilst watching the local news last night (which in itself is unbelievable as I never watch any form of news on TV) that some of the local children had never seen snow like we have had these last couple of days before.  It baffles the mind.

Anyway, it’s day 2 of Snowwatch, or Snowageddon as I like to call it.  We had another blanket of heavy snow overnight which led to this scientific check this morning about 6am.

Get up.
Look out window.
“Meh”.
Get back into bed.
Sleep until woken by text message from mother “Hope you’re not going to work”.

Mothers never stop worrying about you, no matter how old you get.  Thanks Mum :)

So it’s VPN time once again, just keeping an eye on everything down at the office and listening out for any phone calls to fix anything urgent.  The sun is out now and the snow does seem to be melting way faster than it did yesterday, so with a bit of luck it will be back to normal tomorrow.  I love not having to get up and go into the office, but you can’t beat the office banter.  Having said that, we don’t have bacon sandwiches on hand all the time there.  And I can’t perform server health checks whilst watching 24 like I did this morning.

And like that…it was gone!  The first photo was taken at around 7:30 this morning, and this was the scene by 3:00.

Man, I wish I was getting snow days ’round my way. Well, I can’t really say that because we did have one last week.. It just seems we haven’t had a blizzard in a long time. And obviously, I <3 blizzards.

BTW, aren’t you glad 24 is back to being a decent show? I mean, it’s no Shield but at least it isn’t as terrible as past seasons ya know?

Oh heck yes! The new season is such an improvement on the universally awful season 6. I think it has helped giving the show such a large break (thanks writers strike) as well.

  3. Bush Mackel says:

Yeah, you might have a point with the writer’s strike. Honestly, I’m not even sure if I finished season 6 and hearing that Tony was back from the dead in this one, I almost didn’t tune in but ppl were saying it was good so I checked it out. (BTW, though I love Tony – Still not happy he was brought back. He was FREAKIN’ DEAD!)

  4. Pete says:

The whole story about how Tony survived was absolutely terrible, really bad. But I loved it when Jack said “This time you’re staying dead”.
    What a badass!
