One Door Closes…
It’s 12 of 12 day today, but I’m afraid I’m bowing out again this time. Why? Well to be honest, I did begin participating but I only really like to do them if I’ve got something worthwhile to bring. I’m sure people don’t want to see the same old pictures each month, here is my dinner, etc. I took around five and then realised I was going to have to cobble another seven together at home, and that just wouldn’t be very interesting now would it? Telling you about my day would probably be more interesting than seeing it in pictorial form (hopefully).
It’s been a strange day, and an even stranger week. Today saw the end of my fifteen month contract at DARA. Sadly, Cornell wasn’t there to enjoy the cream cakes and general merriment (or to laugh at me chucking half of the Steak Slice I bought at the petrol station on the way in down my t-shirt). Good luck with everything mate, I wouldn’t wish the hassle you’re going through at the moment on anyone, but just remember that the eventual outcome will be worth the heartache.
I haven’t quite got my head around the concept of not having to get up and drive to Gosport every day yet, but I’m sure when Monday morning rolls around and I can turn over and go back to sleep it will. As with all of the jobs I have left, I will really miss the people (this time especially so), but not the beaurocracy.
Next, I’m taking a break and relaxing for a while. Now that I have stopped and sat down it’s hit me just how tired I really am. Sally will be off with me next week so we’re going to get out and about and recharge the batteries before I start looking in ernest for the next contract. I’ve already got a couple of “irons in the fire” which may pan out next week. What will be will be.
Work (or now the lack of it) aside, I’ve been playing Half-Life 2: Episode 2 after The Orange Box unlocked on Wednesday. So far it’s more of the same, but a great game and anything set outside of City 17 is a bonus! Maceie has been giving Portal some serious playtime and seems hooked. I’ll start to blast through that, Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2 at the weekend.
Also, I have HL2 and Episode 1 available as Gifts on Steam. If any of my regular readers would like one or both of these then drop me a message. Random commenters need not apply
Finally this week, I got a new mobile phone. I’ve been after a Windows Mobile based Smartphone for a while now, as my trusty Nokia 6680 is starting to show its age (two years is an age for me to own a mobile phone!). My contract with Orange is up for renewal in a couple of months, and they called me out of the blue on Wednesday dropping some discounts onto my account and a free phone upgrade and the SPV E650 fitted the bill perfectly.
It arrived yesterday and so far I’m loving it. It’s compact and having the full QWERTY keyboard flip-out for text messaging and Contact updates, meeting scheduling, etc is great.
Just one more thing to close this out, a few of you have e-mailed me asking when I will be writing some more reviews. Short answer, soon. I haven’t received any Blu-ray movies for a couple of months, but Transformers on HD-DVD has just shipped from Movietyme. Although given the current state of the postal service, I’ll be lucky to receive it before Christmas.

I love Team Fortress 2 that is in the Orange Box! My friend has already set up a server with co-location from Nationwide Bandwidth 67.90.47.47, (a must to every server owner, imo) and we are enjoying it with many other gamers
