Good News Everyone!

| December 10, 2008 | 9 Comments

The world needs more good news, whether this is or not depends on how you feel about my site I guess.  A few weeks ago I wrote that the site would be discontinued at the end of December.  That is no longer the case, the site is not going to vanish without a trace, but things will be changing.

Just like Odyssey, I’m going back to my roots.  What does that mean for you, gentle reader?  It means that the in-depth Blu-ray and game reviews are going, and personal blog posts are making a comeback.  While I am, of course, extremely grateful to the fine SPHE PR department for sending me review discs of their latest titles, they take up a very large amount of my time and generate a fairly small amount of traffic.  Reviewing a disc takes several hours to watch (especially if it is a marquee release with a large amount of bonus content) and in some cases just as long to actually write the review itself.

From now on if I talk about a game or a movie it will have been purchased with my own ill-gotten cash and I will keep it simple and to the point.  Much like the Microreviews that I have been writing of late, a brief overview of the movie and how it looks and sounds.  That’s what most people want, from what I can gather.

12 of 12 stays, provided Chad wants to keep it going.  Chad is in quite a bad way at present and the last thing on his mind is keeping this going, but I’ll be continuing with it.  The world needs to see pictures of my dinner dag nabbit!  But seriously, big love and support is going out to Chad from me and all of my fellow 12′ers.  Hope you pull through buddy.

The business blog WILL BE COMING too, I promise thee!  By the end of the month if all goes well.
If I can brighten just one persons day with this news then it will be worth it.  I can think of someone who will be pleased, and it’s not just my hosters.

    WOOT !

    To quote Fable . . . “That’s My MAN !” That’s exciting !

So how were you able to keep the site up and running ? Is it a secret ? Would you have to kill me if you told me ? 8-)

Anywho, It’s good to hear that it’ll be up for the future. While I’m a big fan of your reviews, I know that it takes hours upon hours to do them so well . . . and so extensivley.

I’m also lookin’ forward to your business site / blog as well. Where we can ‘talk shop’.

Mate, I’m glad that your gonna keep the blog running. I kind of miss the office banter, things just aren’t the same without you and I enjoy reading the blog.

If you don’t have hosting sorted yet, let me know and I’ll happily donate a corner of my webspace for you to host the personal blog. :)

I haven’t kept up with Chad over the last few months so am off to find out what’s going on.

Keep well buddy, have a good Christmas.

    Coll – Mad props :)

DX – Secret my friend, but everything is “all good in the hood” as I believe the young people like to say.
And in other news, Friday, you and me, L4D. LETS DO THIS!

  4. Lee says:

Does that mean that all the games/movies you get sent for free will be given randomly to those who comment on your site? I think that would be a brilliant initiative ;)

Ok…..so it’s probably not going to happen, but you can’t blame me for trying!

  5. Pete says:

    Ahem!
No. It was only movies I was sent actually, sadly never any games. Plus they are all pre-release test mould discs too, I think I would get a bit of a slap if they went across the country :)

I figured that was the case. I remember being sent GT4: Prologue after winning an SCEE competition at Beaulie Motor Museum and receiving a blank press disc with a photocpied press blurb cover.

Look forward to the continued support for the site Pete. Oh, would you mind if i added you to XBL when I eventually get my Wireless bridge and everything sorted for it?

  7. Pete says:

    Absolutely! Not a problem.

Even to this day, if there is one site I go to before all others if I’m just surfin the web it is yours. And after my mini blogosphere vacation I thought I’d see a “last post” up here…

But to my surprise I saw tons of other posts with one even saying that you hope your new readers stick around for the next 12 months! So obviously I had to do some backtracking to get to this post and I am over the moon to hear the good news!

I’m very very happy that the site isn’t going on hiatus, looking forward to more good stuff from you and wait to check out some more of your other posts in depth! Three cheers mate!

  9. Pete says:

Thanks Bush, and a very happy new year to you and the Mackel crew!
