12 of 12 v4 – Dull Thursday

It’s 12 of 12 time once again.  The year is nearly up and if you listen closely you can hear the sound of the bottom of the barrel being scraped as I tried to get something worthwhile to look at.  Be sure to visit Chad’s site and wish him a happy birthday before checking out the other folks days.

This photo sums up how I feel at the start of the morning.  The time is 6:25 and this is the image that greeted me as I opened the kitchen door.  Will stayed here and didn’t ask for his breakfast until 9:30 (so Sally tells me).  That’s a tired cat!

As I walked out the front door just before seven I snapped this tree across the road, with glimmers of sun appearing.  Sadly the sun appeared for around half an hour and then the rain came.

Stopped at Parley Cross traffic lights.  I’ve been listening to The Lost Symbol for what feels like forever, it’s a long book!  Now I’m nearing the end, just as the new credit from Audible comes in.

No work can even be contemplated before the morning coffee and toast.  For some reason this morning it tasted better than ever, although I’m not sure why.

Sad techie shot, this is the network storage box and the new HP server I installed on Monday (just the server, the storage box has been in for a year).  Insite into the joys of IT, trying to installing something like this into a rack on your own is not fun.

The working day absolutely flew by as I battled with my server virtualisation project and I got my Christmas holiday time booked up, result!  Back home, and the Cullen family indulges in a little light computer usage.  We were going to head out to Waitrose in Lymington and go shopping but as the heavens opened (and it is still going hours later) Sally is doing the shopping online here.

Fear not, the Wii has not multiplied.  I’m just testing a friends one which has stopped working.  The unit is fine, just the power supply has gone kaput.

At the start of last months 12 I had a photo showing my Dad’s wedding ring which Mum gave to me after he passed away in September.  The ring has now been sized and here it is in all its glory, a constant reminder wherever I go.  This is our little symbol of togetherness.

That’s a lot of Depeche Mode!  My friend Martyn leant me the entire back catalogue of 5.1 remastered albums (minus Exciter, because it’s a bit of a poor album).

This is a real blast from the past, please forgive me for being slightly sentimental again.  My Dad was a bit of a hoarder of things, and Mum found a box of my toys (mainly toy cars) and gave them to me the other day.  Much of it is junk, some has gone to charity but a few pieces remain.  This Mr Strong was given to me when I was around five or six years old, I think by my Granny who passed away in 1982.   I’m now keeping it on my desk.

This photo just says it all as well. “I’m now awake, I want something to eat, ergo I will knock your games over to gain your attention”.  Thanks Will.

And finally we have the obligatory dinner photo. But this month it is a work in progress.  Please do not worry, we are not eating all of those sausages in one meal!  Some will be saved and eaten cold.  For anyone who is in the UK, that is a raspberry swirl cheesecake from the Co-op and it is incredible.

That’s it for this month, the shut-in edition of 12 of 12.  See you all next month for the final chapter in year four of 12 of 12.

That’s a nice 12 of 12. I always end up forgetting my camera, or have nothing worth taking pictures of. I’ll have to break the rules and do a 12 of 10th-12th . . . at least I’ll be in the habit of doing it and maybe next month I’ll do it right.

I have my uncles college class ring from when he passes in 1997. I use to wear it but I kept getting it caught on things and scraping things with it . . . so now I keep it safe in a little box on top of my entertainment center.

Bailey, my dog, when he wants something he’ll just come up to me and put one paw on my leg and look at me. If he really needs something, like food or to pee, he will try to hop up in my lap and put his face next to mine . . . as if to say ‘you need to stop what you’re doing NOW and take care of ME !’ Animals . . . you just gotta love em.

I would leave the bangers and beans and just dive into that cheesecake, pure unadulterated pleasure for the taste buds.

I really like that tree picture, and the cheesecake looks (almost!) too pretty to eat!
Is that the new video game that my husband dragged me out to get on Tuesday morning your cat is sitting next to?

That photo of the tree looks like you could have had a beautiful sunrise, but I guess that got spoiled by the rain. It was raining here too …still is and not to stop till sometime Sunday.

Decided to go with a RAID 10 for storage and caching, but still not decided on whether or not to go with a SSD for the system drive. It’ll be probably next year before I pull the trigger on a new system though, unless I come into a pile of money sometime soon. Just recently got into multiple monitors… so much better for editing wih CS4. I just calibrated my monitor and printer yesterday with Colormunki. Not a whole lot of difference on the monitor except for contrast and bightness, but makes a world of difference on the printer especially when changing media. You might see some slight diffence in my posted images on my blog… mostly in the brightness if you do.

I think it was the rain that made the toast and coffee taste better. Comfort foods especially taste better …soup, stew, pot pie, anything that warms you from the inside out. A hot cup of coffee or tea really hits the spot for me on cold rainy mornings.

I guess you can say “Where there’s a Will there’s a Wii.” Okay, another bad pun from me. What can I say. :)

  10. I like the morning sky – very pretty! And mmm, sausages and beans, and cheesecake. You had me on board!
