Hinton Admiral

Once a year a local landowner (read: Many years ago an ancestor stuck a big fence around a piece of land and said “I’m having this”) named George Meyrick opens up his gardens to the public with the proceeds going to help local charities.
Having just been down to the Christchurch Food Festival we needed to walk off another titanic breakfast from the superb Priory 17, so took a trip to the Hinton Admiral estate.
It was absolutely baking up there today, and the gardens themselves (and the main house) were magnificient. I’ve created a Flickr set containing a whole host of snaps of the gardens. It’s amazing to think places like this are right on your doorstep and you never even know!

Yes, it is a beautiful and well-hidden place. Hoping to call in there this year if they open it again – do you happen to know which day(s) the owner is planning to open to the public?
K.
I believe it is always the May bank holiday weekend, so whenever that is this year, that’s our date!
Tempted to go again this year if its a nice day.
