12 of 12 V4 – With A Little Help From My Friends
It’s 12 of 12 time once again, I sat out last month and very nearly didn’t participate again this month. I was stressing about where to go and what photos to take, trying to pick places I haven’t been before. We were on our way up to Hythe in the New Forest but an auto jumble out at Beaulieu threw up a monster traffic jam, so we re-routed to Lymington.
But that’s getting ahead of ourselves. I turned my frown upside down and here are this months pictures. Oh and don’t forget to visit Chad Darnell’s site, the creator and maintainer of the original (and best) 12 photo blog challenge. You can also see larger versions of these photos and all the extra ones that didn’t make the cut this month on the Flickr page for this month.

Before this months 12 I had to add this picture in for the cat fans (of which there are many), this fella was asleep on the front of a car in the car park at my chiropractors! Just fast asleep on the warm bonnet. After I took the photo he woke up, let me stroke him and then went back to sleep.

First up this morning I was rudely awoken to the sound of this “little darling” eating a bird he had caught outside
Sometimes I hate cats but that’s them for you. It’s not like we don’t feed him well enough! Shortly after a proper breakfast he fell into a coma and wouldn’t pose for his obligatory photo.

A few months ago we bought a slow cooker which is fantastic for just throwing stuff in first thing and leaving to cook all day. We’ve got pork medallions with green beans, red onion and carrotts here. Hopefully it will turn out well. We’ll find out later (I write this in stages during the day). I was suitably chastised for taking the lid off after it had started cooking. I’m dubious the sauce will rise and cover it but what do I know? Not that much when it comes to cooking.

As I mentioned at the top, we were headed out into the New Forest as it is such a beautiful September day, but had to re-route back to Lymington. This Triumph motorbike was parked up on the quay. I’m not a bike person but had to snap this as it’s so beautifully looked after. Sadly I only had my iPhone with me so the photo doesn’t do the bike justice.

This display was in a shop window in Lymington and I had to take a photo. I wish I had taken more photos up there today, it was glorious.

Back home and Sally prepares out menu for the week. We’re trying to plan our meals out now rather than buying random stuff. Saves money too.

Meanwhile, out in the garden Will is now awake and even sat next to me on the bench. If this were a Lolcat it would “OH HAI, IZ REDDY FOR MAI CLOSEUP NAO!”

A rare sighting of me this month. Sony PR sent me Angels & Demons on Blu-ray to review (I had forgotten I asked for it a few months ago) this week. We watched it last night, and I’m starting to work on the review. But didn’t for long. Movie was quite good, better than I was expecting actually.

Next up, we went for an extremely long walk and I took an awful lot of photos around the village of various places that are included in the extra Flickr photo set. But I’ve picked four of my favourites to include here. This first one is of a cottage hidden away down a path on a lane. I’ve been meaning to take a photo for 12 of it for ages, but didn’t want to get too close in case the owners spotted me and asked why I was taking a photo of their house!

This is the Hordle village church. No particular reason for it being here other than I snapped it quickly and then when reviewing the photos liked the angle the photo was taken from. No more of a story than that!

The next photo from our walk is this one, coming back around from the rural section to the more built up area. Again I just snapped this and was pleased with how it came out.

Final stroll photo is a cottage garden, again snapped quickly to avoid any “OI!” calls from the owners.

And finally for this month just how did the slow cooked pork come out? Like this! With some roasted asparagus as well for extra flavour. It may not look too appetising but trust me, it was incredible.
That’s it for 12 of 12 this month, thanks for visiting and thanks to everyone who comments each and every month. I always return the favour

hey pete! i was wondering what happened to you last month!
glad to see you got to participate this month.
i liked Angels and Demons a lot! I did prefer that book over da vinci code so I was hoping I’d like the movie more as well and I did
Maybe Ewan McGregor in priest form was an added bonus! haha!
planning meals is a great idea. It does make you ‘waste’ less. The problem is, I can’t cook to save my life. haha! so much for planning. Great shots this month! until next
Cool pics Pete! The cottage garden is my fave this month. All it needs is a picnic blanket, bottle of champagne and me relaxing in the middle! Thanks for stopping by as well. J
I enjoyed your photos. The one with the house from the village is great. Your pets are cute. You know you can’t go wrong with a pet photo. They always seem to be doing something that makes for a great photo. Last but not least, yea an Apple man. I’ll never know why I stayed with Windows for so long.
PS Thanks for sharing…
What a pleasant day — looks like fabulous weather! (And I have a cousin who lives in the New Forest. ‘Course, the only time I was there to visit was in November, so not so fun for the walking and hiking.)
Haven’t seen “Angels and Demons.” I read the book – recall liking it better than the sequel, so maybe I’ll give the flick a try when it comes out!
I love the pics of your walk around the village! I wish I lived in a more walk-able area. And dinner looks pretty tasty. Nice 12!
I never heard of SLOW cooking and it sounds really great and healthy! I was always wondering whether the fast pressure cooking would be really okay for our bodies not to speak about microwaves. this comes near to the stone age man cooking his meals on a tiny bonfire while gathering berries and seeds…
I watched angels and demons and as it was recommended from age 12 we took our 10 year old with us. he usually does well with 12er movies. but this one was shocking for him, too many really brutal scenes. I preferred the book which I read in a few hours. and I like you mac, the little brother of mine!!!! thank you for sharing and for your comment (it is 7 am and the line is rather fast – still!!!)! eliane
I guess you know why all birds are fast… the slow ones are just too delicious. Even Will knows that. Speaking of delicious, those pork tenderloins came out lookng good despite what you thought they looked like. Got to love those quaint cottages and formal gardens.
I guess it’s not only me who get’s the funny looks and paranoid comments when I’m taking photos. Last month I was asked not to take photos in a grocery store, not the first time either.
The pics around the village are beautiful – love the church.
Dinner looks tasty
Great pics!
Nice 12 of 12 . . . I bet the sauce didn’t quite cover them either lol, but the pork looks wonderful !
Here in the South, perhaps like your North, if you stop and take a picture of someone’s house or garden they actually appreciate the fact that you though it looked nice enough to take a picture of it . . . but up North (here in the US) people would get upset if you snapped a picture of their property.
Perhaps I will do a 12 of September and slowly work my way up to a 12 of 12 lol.
What great pix! I’m so glad you joined in afterall this month. The house in the village is enchanting!
I like the sun flare one, and the kitty photos!
Mum does a slow cooker stew that’s gorgeous. And she lifts the lid once or twice during cooking (it takes about 6 hours), to stir it so it doesn’t stick and burn to the bottom rim. So I think you’re OK.
Sorry I’m late in replying! I’ve not even got my own 12 of 12 up yet – hopefully tonight!

Hi, Pete. What a way to start a day…..cat crunching dead bird. I love your photos this month, particularly the sun flare shot and the cottage. I’m thinking the reason the meal doesn’t look too appetizing is the red onion. It never looks good once cooked. I bet the dinner tasted really good, no matter what the picture looks like. Hope to see you next month.
hey Pete
glad to see you’re still 12 of 12ing i happened to see Angels and Demons on the plane home from China, great film but a 3 1/2 in screen dosent do it justice, keep up the 12s man
