12 of 12 V4 – December 2009
Here we are again for one last time this year. Has it really been four years of 12 of 12? Tempus Fugit. Of course by now the great Chad Darnell needs no introduction as the creator of the challenge. Be sure to visit the other folks 12s and comment on their efforts. We really like it.
We begin this month with a rarity, us still being awake at the stroke of midnight. I’ve been playing Wii games all evening that have been sat on a shelf for at least six months. This was rather enforced due to the Xbox 360 throwing a hissy fit and is currently on its way back to Germany for repair.

While all this was going on, Will (who is rather poorly at present) decided to make friends with our festive blanket (he paws constantly at them which is why they look a little blurred). He stayed here until 3:10am at which time he lept on the bed and miaowed. Waking up with a cat in your face is never a fun thing, especially at that time.

A few hours later I was awake before sunrise (no idea why) and he was quite keen on an early breakfast. Sadly that enthusiasm was not caught on camera.

While Will began another light sleep (five hours at the time of typing) I relaxed in our lightly decorated winter wonderland and waited to Sally to wake up.
As we are getting close to Christmas we made sure we were out and about early this morning, and by 9 we were down in Christchurch for breakfast and a walk around the town. A couple of months ago our stroll round the village proved to be quite popular so hopefully we have some crowd pleasing shots here.

This is Christchurch Priory taken from the rear (so to speak) in the car park.

Walking through the church yard on the way to breakfast and warmth.

Sally said I should take a photo of this plaque for you all as well.

It wouldn’t be a 12 without a food photo. Apologies to my vegetarian and vegan friends, but I love my full English breakfast. This certainly fuelled the furnace for a good few hours.

After breakfast we had a walk around Christchurch and spent way too long nosing around the shop that this window display comes from. Unfortunately the photo doesn’t do the display justice.

After our wander round I dropped Sally off in New Milton and headed back home to compile the photos so far. But then made a special trip out to go and snap this little guy. This ceramic cat ornament is cemented onto the wall outside the home of the local Waggy Tails pet rescue lady. I’m amazed nobody has taken the little scarf and hat, we must live in a nice area

Earlier this week Microsoft sent me an utterly surreal package as part of my Small Business Specialist accreditation which included an enormous flag. Bush told me on Twitter I could wear it as a cape. Happy to oblige!

We spent much of the afternoon re-watching episodes of the simply sublime Community before checking out the first episode of Glee. Then after that we went to visit a local resident who decorates his house each year to raise money for various local charities. This year it is the local air ambulance.

What started off as one house has now spread to the entire street, which is a nice little bit of community spirit.
And that brings us to the end of another month and year of 12 of 12. It’s certainly been an eventful 12 months, but if Chad keeps posting I’m sure we’ll all keep playing.
Whatever you celebrate at this time of year, have a happy one

Look at that breakfast!!! Makes my toast & coffee look pathetic. (I’m jealous).
I love the photos of the church yard & the kitty with the hat and scarf. Thanks for sharing your day.
Happy Holidays!

Ok I need to dot point my comments for this..
*I hope Will is feeling better soon. He’s a very photogenic cat even when he is feeling unwell.
*Did you set up that photo of your living room or are naturally that immaculately clean and tidy? WOW!
*Yep I would be one of those vegan friends so I’ll ignore the 3 different animals you consumed and just say that I’d be lucky to get through 1/4 of that size breakfast. it’s HUGE!
*It’s a bird.. it’s a plane.. No… it’s Super Microsoft Pete!
*The last photo of the Xmas lights is so lovely! While I love the “idea” of decorating the house for all the community to see, my mind immediately goes back to thinking “damn.. the thought of the electricity bill outweighs my xmas spirit”
I hope you, Sally and Will have a great Christmas!!!
i thought this was an IRISH breakfast!!! i would love it for dinner but early in the morning my stomack would probably twist a few times… last time i just had lost my apple-laptop at cork airport security-check before i went to vienna so it was really hard to post my 12 pics on time as it really took some time to handle my friends laptop, an ordinary pc… i felt really handicapped – 13 days without my own computer!!! but when i got back they really returned my little darling! honest people. so today was my 12th 12 of 12 and i am rather proud that I nearly made it completely. as i posted our kitten a few days ago you have to scroll a little bit downwards for his sight. this little creature doesn’t want to learn not to use the toilet but to do his business outside. he is about 6 months old and hates to go on strolls. if he leaves for a short sightseeing tour he comes back and tHEN uses his toilet. a so i still have to clean it every second day, grrrrrr. do you have any idea how long it takes for a cat to accept soil and sand??? happy christmas eliane
Great pics! I always love the ones you take around your area – just beautiful. Lovely Christmas decos at home and around town, too.
Merry Christmas to you, Sally & Will.
Lovely photos from Christchurch! Would love to see it someday.
In that cape, I think perhaps MS needs to hire you as a corporate logo…
Wow, i LOVE the way you have the room decorated! Looks very Christmasy, warm and cozy!
I love the photos of the church yard & church the history in those images is beautiful.
That is one mighty breakfast! Fit almost for a MS superhero
I hope kitty Will is feeling his normal self soon, and I agree, your house is almost preternaturally tidy and clean! Love the festive decorations, and those on the house nearby too.
You’re Microsoft Man! I liked the church yard picture the best. Cool decorations inside and out.
Merry Christmas!
You know, I’m contemplating breakfast right now, and that just looks so very nice…
We threw a Windows 7 party, and we didn’t get a cape. I think I’m going to have to take this up with M$. Very wrong.
Love the church photos. There just aren’t that many lights up ’round these parts yet.
Merry Christmas!
Great photos, and I hope Will recovers soon.
Nick
Thanks for the lovely walk around town. It’s a gray day here, and those sunny pictures are happy. Sorry Will is/was under the weather; I hope all is well now. Have a Wonderful Christmas.
PS – I’d normally call him Santa Claus, but his costume required a more distinguished title.
The 3rd picture (of your living room) looks so cozy and warm!
I really enjoy your pictures each month. Your pictures of Christchurch and the walks about town are something I always look forward to. Our curious kitty, Annie, sends her best wishes for a speedy recovery to Will.
Merry Christmas.
I love your 12!
Love your tree, your town, your breakfast! (I was in Dublin last month and was utterly disappointed that every day an “Irish breakfast” was served but had no mushrooms with it!)
Love the cat in the hat (and scarf!) and the outdoor decorations!
OMW! You take such lovely photos!
Seriously, your breakfast looks very good. And the stroll through Christchurch seems appropriately comforting for a Sunday.
Thank you for sharing your 12 of 12!
What an enormous breakfast, looks like a delicious lunch meal. Nice pictures, I do love the ones around the Church.
Aww, love the pictures of Will. That breakfast pic is making me hungry!
Merry Christmas!
It’s about 9am here and your breakfast picture has me going CRAZY. And your place is looking great for XMas! I’ve been debating doing something over here but it’s so hard with a one year old in the house.
OF COURSE – Your flag picture is epic. You look like JUSTICE.
Awesome 12 of 12!
