12 of 12 v3 – December

| December 12, 2008 | 22 Comments

Another month and yet another year have blown past, which brings us to the final 12 of 12 of 2008.  I am contractually obliged to tip my hat to Chad Darnell for creating this bringing together of days across the globe.  Plus an extra shout out to everyone who participates in the 12 to be sure to send Chad some extra love and hope and pray that his cancer has not spread.  If you want a funny, touching and sad blog post to read, just check out his experiences over the last few days.

And so to my final set of 12 pictures for 2008.  I’m currently in the midst of a very extended Christmas holiday (I have the entirity of December off), so no scrabbling around with work pictures today.  This is quite possibly the most food heavy 12 of the lot, which should please everyone who enjoys food.  And cats.  But not as food.  Make that non vegetarians too, this is all extremely heavy on the meat.  Sorry folks, that’s how we roll.  And finally, these photos are in a much higher resolution along with a load more on Flickr.

NOM NOM NOM! This was an extremely tricky photo to take at eight o’clock this morning, because Will has decided to turn his nose up at most food.

Lo and behold, here he is two minutes later “more please, this not good nuff. KTHX”.  I love how his tail curls over the draining board, so that’s why he gets two photos this month.  He’s now fully recovered after having the MOTHER of all fights a couple of weeks ago that left him with cuts, bruises and two abscesses.  Fighting fit once again.

Time to head out to Bournemouth.  I couldn’t resist including a photo of the bargain of the week, this Satnav (or GPS if you are in the US) that cost £50 from eBuyer. Load it up to TomTom 7 and hey presto!  Love it.
The purpose of the shopping trip was that the weather here this week has been absolutely freezing (literally), and I have a ton of shirts and t-shirts but no warm tops.  Of course today the temperature went up and it has rained constantly.  Oh well.  But it was mission accomplished, four tops (including two jumpers – Sally has never seen me wear a jumper), two t-shirts and a pair of trousers.

After such excitements we had to stop in at the Marks & Spencers cafe.  This is the best picture I could get in there without looking like a total weirdo.

First food shot of the day (Will’s doesn’t count).  This was fantastic, a chicken, bacon and cheese toasted sandwich with a cup of filter coffee that is so dark you can practically see Sally’s outline in it.

Bournemouth isn’t the most pleasant of places to visit on a good day, but the high street looks rather desolate as we dashed between the shops.  Sally went off to get some stuff for herself, so I gave a friend a call to catch up and have even more coffee.

I had to include this photo because Steph the barista made this special pattern for me.  I also fully appreciate the irony of having a skinny latte and then smothering the top in chocolate.

Around midday and back home once again.  Sally insisted that we had to have a photo of me wearing my new clothes next to the Christmas tree.  A couple of months ago I went on a shopping trip and was too large to fit into the sizes I liked.  I’m down from XL to L on tops, and down a trouser size as well.  Go me!  This won’t last long with Christmas coming up, but I’ll try my best.

In the post today, Wanted and Incredible Hulk on Blu-ray.  I will be scaring my elderly neighbours with the booms from Hulk later.

As darkness fell we headed up to Lymington to get some coffee and other bits and pieces when Sally reminded me that we were looking at Christmas ornaments the other week at this fantastic shop up there.  Naturally as we are restricted to 12 photos here I have added this one, but there are more on the Flickr page, which is well worth a visit.  This is my favourite of the bunch, these skaters all skate around the ice rink.  Our purchase is photo number 12.

Dinner.  Fillet steak, mashed potato and mixed vegetables.  Gorgeous.

Sorry but I had to break the rules and include a picture of the strawberry tarts we had for afters.  We ate well today.

To round out this years 12 series, our purchase from Lymington earlier.  Sadly photos can’t do it justice, the lights cycle colours to light up the church and it’s a nice Christmas scene to end with….sort of.

Alright three bonus photos this month, I was taking snaps of meals with my phone camera over the last couple of days and remembered that Steffi always likes to see our food, so here are some bonuses.  A cooked breakfast from Wednesday morning and our lunch yesterday, incredible minted lamb chops for Sally and lasagne and chips for me.

So that really is the end of this months and years 12′s.  So a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year to one and all, see you next year!

Hi Pete, glad to hear Will is ‘fighting fit’, though I wish he weren’t fighting. Yeah my boys turn their noses up at food and then want more, ie a different sachet opened. Strawberry tart looks yummy. Enjoy having the whole month free and seasons greetings and all that, have a good one and all the best for you and yours in 2009 :0), Lisa

    Hi Pete!

Now I’m hungry :( This 12 of 12 is really a turtor for me because I decided earlier today not to eat anything more before bed. But now I need to check the fridge.
I’m glad Will is doing better after his fight! I love the little houses and winter scenes. We had one shop here too, which closed last year. But my parents have a whole village with all kind of shops and houses and small figures – everything with selfmade lightning and day/night changes, artificial snow, a mountain, a lake … Really nice. I wish I had the space and money for such things :)

Merry Christmas to you and Sally and Will.

Heys Pete another great 12 of 12 you inspired me to do my own after months of saying I would check it out on my blog and give me a few pointers. more food shots I would imagine :P

I think I’ve been on that shopping street … jeez, it’s been twenty years since I was in Bournemouth. I have cousins who used to live to Poole before he got rich and bought a place in the New Forest that doesn’t have numbers in the address, just the estate name.

Where was I? Oh, right. Will kind of looks like my friend’s cat — the one we always joke thinks she’s a dog. You sit down and BOOM! She’s on your lap. “Pay attention to me.”

    Nice 12! Happy Christmas!

  8. Eliane says:

Hi Pete, thank you for the very first comment on my very first 12/12. I really enjoy Chad’s idea as I quite often take pictures throughout the day. Lilly is sending regards to Will and envying him for his pretty ears… Cheers from Ireland!

  9. Nick says:

Pete, great pics this month. I like a cat with a little fighting spirit.

  10. Harvey says:

    Happy Christmas too!

  11. Sunny says:

Great shots, Pete. I enjoyed getting a peek into your day. I must say you look very svelte in your new duds. I hope you have an awesome time off from work and a very happy Christmas.

  12. Dan says:

Hi Pete! Great photos. That’s so odd about Will. My cat has eaten the same thing her whole life (Cat Chow) and sometimes I wonder how she does that. But it’s healthy for her. Have a very nice Merry Christmas and a great start to 2009!

  13. BU says:

12 of 12 is always better with food. Yum!

  14. Paksen says:

    Hey Pete,
Merry Christmas to you and yours. How’d the neighbors handle the Hulk?

Great pictures, Pete. Will looks to be well cared for. (And well fed, too.)

    Have a wonderful Holiday.

  18. Linda says:

Great pics, as always! Love the Christmas decos, and the food looks fabulous (and yeah, Christmas is shooting my diet resolve down a notch or two as well – but whatever!)

Merry Christmas to you, Sally & Will (glad he’s all healed up and acting like a total cat!)

  19. Michele says:

I want a strawberry tart!!! NOW! Will’s tail over the drainboard just cracked me up. The places that cats wind their tails around… Merry Christmas!!

  21. DXEndar says:

What a good 12 of 12, even though it didnt have any IT equipment in it ! . . . unless you count the background of a couple of pictures. 8- )

I still haven’t done a 12 of 12 yet, perhaps tomorrow I’ll use my phone to take some pictures.

Again, your steering wheel is on the wrong side ! You really should be more careful when purchasing cars.

The food looks good, but good job on dropping a pant size ! Our church is going on a 21 day fast in January. Which means only fruits, vegetables, and grains (along with the occasional meat if needed for health reasons). So I’ll be dropping a pant size or two here soon as well, only mine will be as a side effect lol.

  22. Hi Pete! Great 12 of 12 this month! Well done on dropping the dress sizes, but how has Sally never seen you in a jumper before, given our climate?!?! But you are looking mighty fine, and is that the first photo where we’ve seen your face? Sally must be a happy lady :D

Anyhoo – glad to hear Will’s back to fighting fit (more fit, less fighting for 2009?), and that you got your shopping that you wanted – good result!

I’m hoping to post mine tonight, but it depends how much I have to fight with my harddrive to have space for the photos, and how tired I am. I was on the trains which were delayed in open countryside last night, and I got home at 5:30am (instead of something nearer to 11:30pm). And I’ve not slept. But I can look at and comment on pretty photos, so here I am!

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year, all of you!
