12 of 12 V – May 2010

It’s 12 of 12 time yet again, the creation of the great Chad Darnell.
For the last couple of months I’ve been a “gentleman of leisure” or as I like to call it, a “jobless waster”.  But I am back to work again now on a new six month contract and the employer is in Lymington itself, ten minutes in the car!  I’ve gotten so used to driving for at least an hour each way every day it’s a strange experience to think “crikey, I’m here already” each morning.  I am only on day three but so far am absolutely loving it.

I also realised when I was out and about in town taking photos this lunchtime that even though I live a few minutes away from Lymington I haven’t really taken any photos from around the area, so I went on a lunchtime voyage of discovery to try and get the best snaps I could.  Weather was against me a bit, but I tried my best.  Waffle over, on with the photos.

Making a breakfast decision.  It’s either porridge or granola.  You may possibly remember last month I had just started doing a diet programme called Diet Chef.  One month later, fourteen pounds lost and I’m a week or two away from being my correct weight.  I went for the granola.

As always, His Willness is settling down for his day of “work” before I leave.

Just wanted to include this photo of the bluebells outside our back door which I spotted before leaving work.  I’m ridiculously unobservant, they’ve been there for ages.

I know you folks always like a photo of a New Forest roaming pony, so here’s one.  Sadly I couldn’t find a pack of them today.

Here’s a shock photo.  It’s my lunch, I’m having a pasta salad.  It was ok, but got a bit sickly after the fourth layer of salad goodness.  It was incredibly needed too, back to a full time position after over two months.

Time for the lunchtime break from the office.  I couldn’t resist a stereotype red telephone box photo.  There aren’t many of these left any more.

Just down from the phone box I had to wait at the level crossing going into Lymington station.  I managed to snap this photo quickly without looking like too much of an idiot :)

Just by the “Welcome to Lymington” sign is this so called flower arrangement.  It’s pretty rubbish isn’t it?  There’s another one on my route into work, I’ll try and get a snap of that next month as a contrast.  Very poor indeed Lymington.

Heading back up towards the office I took a photo of this pub for a good reason.  Johnny Depp drinks here, he has a house on Lymington Quay.  I’ve not seen him myself, but locals have seen him and he’s very friendly.  His daughter goes to school here, that’s why he has a house.  Fun fact.

Second shot of the crossing on the way back up to the office.

Back home after a very tiring day.  Such a welcome sight isn’t he?

Had to finish up with this slice of decadence from a sandwich shop down on the quay.  Sally ate most of it.

That’s it for this month, sorry I haven’t been able to weave a lengthy story like I usually do but this work thing gets in the way.  Good job next month’s 12 is on a Saturday.  See you then.

    Love The Food!

    And all the other pics.

    Thx for sharing, Pete.

I have to admit, no walking pics this time again. My Mom took care of Moogie… I should have given her the cam, shouldn’t I.

    As always, nice pictures !

Once again, my 12 of 12 will be late getting posted. But I was sick this time, so I have an excuse.

I’m going to have to do some traveling to get a good 12 of 12 (Tennessee Flood Edition). Otherwise, it’s just going to be the same old boring shots from work. You have such a nice area around you !

Next month I expect nothing less than a photo of Johnny Depp! I like the pony pic, very random. Does it belong to anyone?

  6. Andy Darnell says:

I like the flower boat too. Cool day.

  7. Dan says:

Congrats on the job. I hope to have one this week, but we will see. Good to see your town it looks very nice. It is also of course great to see Will each month and the cake looked wonderful!

  8. Well done on the 14lbs! Maybe I need to look at that ;-) (only bought new scales last weekend, so this is week one and I’m just aiming for less Starbucks).

Johnny Depp? Niiiiiiiiice. Must be nice to go to the bar and smile, say Hi to him, then go back to drinking with your friends.

I think the flower boat would be better if they weeded around it!

And enjoy the new job – and shorter commute!

Most of the forest ponies have owners somewhere, the good ones put reflective tags on their collars so you can see them at night.
Lot of pony deaths on those roads :(

Wow – congrats on the weight loss and the new job. Fourteen pounds in a month is wonderful. Will looks as if he had a really rough day. Poor little guy. I love the red phone booth. I took a picture of one in Malta last year, and it’s a favorite of mine. Lymington looks to be quite picturesque. See you next month.

  11. Regina says:

Congratulations on your dieting success … Aren’t these old phone booths much nicer to look at (and to take pictures from) than the new ones? The chocolate thing looks delicious … and I am sure Sally ate most of it ^^.

  12. Jill says:

OKay… I need to book plane tickets so I can hang out at that pub… and wander around your area – ponies, cool buildings AND Johnny Depp. My kinda place!

Congrats on the weightloss… my body seems to be just moving stuff around, no loss here. Oh well. It feels good to be healthy.

    Thanks for sharing!

  13. BU says:

Hope the new job is treating you nicely! Bet it’s hard to get out of the work-at-home habit though.

  14. Matt says:

Good for you on the diet! You’ve really stuck to it.

I love His Willness, and the pony, and even the sad rowboat garden. Makes for a great picture if nothing else!

Nice to see your day again. Cheers!

  15. Cool 12 this month Pete. I’m a big J.Depp fan. Well, as big a fan as I get. I’m not obsessed with people or sports teams like some people can get, but I do think he is extremely talented. Congrats on the diet thing. I wish I could say I was within 12 pounds of my ideal weight. Don’t think I ever could say that in fact. By the time I could talk, I was already 20 pounds overweight. :) I’d like to know how you can eat pasta salad and chocolate cake and lose weight. I look in a bakery window as I pass by and I gain a pound or two. Have to agree with you on the flower pot… pretty sad looking for a town display. Can’t really say that much though. Our landscaped bed are just as sad as well. Just a sign of the economy really. Know what you mean about the “work getting in the way” thing. Happens to me from March through November pretty much. Good luck with the work thing…. see you next month.

  16. Julie says:

I love your photos. The phone booth and pony are my favorites. Congrats on the weightloss. I need to get inspired to do something like that myself.

  17. oh yes please a photo of Jonny Depp would make my daughter happy (and me too can I admit thatß). congratulations on your discipline in loosing weight. speaking of weight the chocolate cakes looks really yummy. thanks for sharing your pics. really enjoyed reading. greetings from Germany
