12 of 12 V – February 2010

February 12, 2010 | By | 15 Comments

We begin this months 12 of 12 (created by scriptwriter and all-round good guy Chad Darnell) with a note to everyone else who participates but isn’t on Twitter, Facebook, et al to ask you all to send a huge amount of love to our girl Janelle in Australia who has had a rather…difficult month and that’s putting it mildly.  Please be sure to check out the My New Hero post, and everything that Tammy has written as J came back from near death several times in the last thirty days.  Our friend is a true hero, and today is having fluid drained from her brain.

This month is the second in a series of two.  The series I like to call “Help Me Out Sally, It’s A Work Day”.  While I was at work, Sally headed out down to New Milton (our nearest town) and got busy with her iPhone camera.  There is a theme this month.  Food.  And love.  Or possibly even luuurrrve.  Ahem, sorry.

So after I cleared off to work it was Wii Fit+ time for Sally.  Her avatar is so skinny, makes me sick.  Mine just says “Who the **** are you?!?!” if I sign in.  That may be a lie, but you get the idea.  Or possibly “Where the **** you been chubber?”.

A pretty cold trip to New Milton.  First up, the water tower.  We’ve lived in the area for nearly fourteen years (Sally for many years before we were together) and I’ve never actually noticed this building before, but I really like it.  It’s amazing what you can see when you open your eyes isn’t it?

In the local “fancy” shop called Inspirations.  This is part of the Easter display.  I’d much rather have one of these than one of those big packaged monstrosities!

This months comedic effect picture.  The shop in question here is the local independant department store (they still exist in small Hampshire towns) called Bradbeer’s.  Not Bra Beers as shown here.  Good idea for a shop though.  Maybe.

In the window of the local British Heart Foundation shop.  You could write your own special message and have it displayed in the window.  I think Ozzy’s one may be a generic one for all shops.  I don’t think the Prince of Darkness himself likes to kick it at the weekend in small rural Hampshire villages.  Or maybe he does.

Another snap of New Milton.  Sally took a lot.  What a trooper.

A final picture back at Inspiration for their valentines display.

Back at home now, here’s Sally’s Amerillus (apologies for the butchering of the spelling) which was merely a bulb when given to her at Christmas.  I love having flowers in the house, especially ones grown from scratch.  There’s a beautiful things from small and humble beginnings metaphor bursting to get out of this paragraph.  With a little nurture, perhaps it will.

“Is it that time of the month again already?  Clear off, I’m trying to sleep”.

After I got home we headed up to Waitrose in Lymington.  This is the special “Valentine’s Meal for £15″ offer.  This will go down very well on Sunday.

I had to include a picture of these Gingerbread Ladies from Waitrose.

And finally (sort of) this is the selection of things I’ve got for Sally for Sunday.  Don’t worry, she’s been banned from looking at this 12 until Sunday.  I had to buy the Glee import DVD off eBay as it’s not out here yet.  I think this will go down very well indeed.

That is the end of our twelve pictures for this month but there is an extra bonus.  Because Steffi enjoys the food pictures so much (and there isn’t one for todays dinner) here are a few bonus pictures from this weeks dinner :)   See you all next month.

Monday – Beef casserole.  Which was amazing.

Tuesday – Chicken curry.

Wednesday – Home made fish pie.

  1. Hello Pete, Sally and Amaryllis (;-)
no cat today as I am in Vienna (with just a bit of Lance’s pee on my handbag ;-((( Please pas me a bit of your chicken curry, am quite hungry…. Nice of you to remind the readers of brave Janelle, she is sooo tough.
    Cheers from icy Austria. Eliane

I hesitated on buying the Glee set because it turns out that the first season isn’t over — they’re releasing another 9 episodes this Spring and then making a “complete first season” DVD just to rip everyone off.

P.S. I have no idea how anyone could have the willpower and dedication to do 272 days of Wii Fit. I think my Mii has died of obesity from lack of playing!

  3. Great pics, Pete&Sally!!
The first made me … kind of uncomfortable, because I’ve abandoned my Wii Fit for almost a year now. My avatar had been thin back then, too. But since I stopped going to the gym and running isn’t an option these days … well, I guess that thing had already died of boredom or won’t recognize me at all (I’m sure it would say something like ‘Please go back and choose your own avatar’ *g*).
And these are great presents you got. Hope she will like them ;)

    Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Hey Pete & Sally,
thx for sharing your pics! LOOOOVE the food :O)

Happy Valentine. You guys enjoy your day tomorrow.

    Steffi.

  5. What a cool water tower!

When I saw the Bra Beer sign the first thing I thought of was bra shaped beer steins… not sure how functional that would be – for the wearer or the drinker. :)

Have a wonderful Valentine’s day! Looks like you have a great meal planned. (btw, the beef casserole looks SO yummy!)

  6. Great pics, all of them – love the water tower and the Bra Beer. ;) Great sentiment behind the amaryllis. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day!

  7. GLEE!!!!! :)

    Love the pictures!

  8. I fear my Wii. It scolds me every time I log in. (“Where have you been? Don’t you know you’re obese?? If you don’t exercise, you could drop dead AT ANY SECOND!!!!”)

I secretly suspect that The Dark Lord actually runs one of those shops. Have you seen the porcelain dolls with the big eyes? They’re terrifying …

    Happy VD!

  9. wii fit….yeah i know the problem :)
here in germany valentins day isn´t so big, so no presents for me, but it is nice to look at sallys…

  10. Sunny

Glee rocks!!! I’m anxiously awaiting its return. The Mii made me laugh. Mine hadn’t seen me for over 200 days when I got the new Wii Fit Plus just after Christmas. I used it a couple of days and, guess what!!! It hasn’t seen me since. The amaryllis is beautiful. Sally did a great job for you! See you next month.

  11. Ah, a teamwork 12 of 12! I like the shop photos, some nice things there! And the Waitrose ingredients look yummy, and you’ve done a great set of presents, I hope Sally likes them! (I’m wondering what she’s gotten you now).

And yes, I hope J’s doing much better! I must check the Blog…

(thanks for the Happy Helen return comment – made me smile!)

  12. Great pictures! Love the Ozzy snap shot! ahah

  13. I hear ya on Wii Fit Petey. When I step on it and it makes my Avatar looks all fat I just roll eyes and curse at it.

  14. Dan

Great 12 of 12 as usual Pete (and Sally). I love your commentaries, you crack me up. I bet Sally loved her DVD, Glee is a really fun show!

  15. Awesome 12 of 12 Pete!
